Is anyone watching Strongman?
We love it and watch it every year at Christmas (usually on catch up so we watch one a day over holidays). We have just watched the episode with Travis Ortmayer who talked about an addiction. So I googled it and found his story.
Crazy how things can turn around for people so fast.
Self care is crucial and I love how Yoga teaches us so much about ourselves and coping strategies. Travis talks about his daily gratitude and how he uses a stone. Here is snippet of the article.
Travis kept himself on track by practicing daily gratitude and implementing a technique to ensure he didn’t veer off course.
“I have a little trick,” he says. “I keep a little stone in my pocket, so that every time I reach into my pocket, I feel that stone and I go over my gratitude list. I name five things I’m grateful for, every single time I touch it.”
I urge you to read it as it is quite an eye opener to turning things around.
In Yoga this morning we worked on reflection for the past year, the present moment and the future.
We did some journaling and some lovely movement and thought about gratitude for each of those things.
I’m not a believer of New Year’s resolutions as so many set them and fail. It’s much more healthy to make small subtle changes gradually so they become habits. Working on one small goal at a time until it becomes second nature.
Yoga is more a than movement and journaling and self worth come high on the list.
The 8 limbs of Yoga. (And that’s for another post).
What do you do for your self care?
This is inspiring and a sad story too don’t you think?
